Why PwC?
This question aims to reveal how much thought you've put into pursuing an opportunity with them, specifically, as opposed to finding a position anywhere that fits your skills. PwC advertises that they are looking to recruit those who not only have the skills required to perform the job but share their values and would be compatible with their culture: "Why PwC? Although we come from different backgrounds and cultures across the firm, our values are what we have in common. They capture our shared aspirations and expectations and guide how we make decisions and treat others. We care for our people and are committed to inclusion, understanding, and respect for all."
HireVue's assessments aim to identify top performers most suited to the company's goals and culture, in this case, PwC. That information is then passed on to the company's hiring authority. Once the hiring authority receives the materials, they can view the interviews side by side for further comparison and evaluation.
When describing the assessment interview process, PwC acknowledges, "For many candidates, the situation can feel rather contrived and impersonal due to the lack of eye contact and ability to build rapport." This is a valid point not just from the candidate's perspective but the hiring authority, who may later review the recorded interview and the algorithm that assesses the candidate's behavior, including eye contact and gaze avoidance. So spend a little time practicing in front of your computer's camera, trying not to look at yourself on the screen, but rather maintaining eye contact with the camera lens as if you're speaking face-to-face with a person, and keep at it until you are relaxed and seem natural.
"In all honesty, out of all the companies I researched when I was trying to determine what felt like the best working environment and company culture for me, PwC stood apart from the rest. I want to keep advancing in my career, and I am interested in repeating success for me and the company I work for. After considering longevity, mutual growth, and not burning out, I felt like PwC was the only choice worth exploring."
