GSK is interested in learning your true motive for applying for this position with their company. Their goal is to enhance the functionality of their teams and their productivity; they are only interested in hiring someone who appreciates what they have to offer. They are proud of what they have built and what they are doing and are interested in hiring only those who share their enthusiasm or seem like a complementary fit for their teams and their culture. "Above all, we create a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued, and included."

When you answer this question, you'll want to determine how your goals align with theirs. Consider whether GlaxoSmithKline's environment, ideals, and professional purpose align with yours. However, if you're just trying to land a job anywhere because you need work, don't assume they are looking for anyone qualified to do the job. They take pride in what they've built and want to know if you take pride in what you do.

An in-person interview is typically held in a controlled environment. Yet, when you conduct a video interview, it is up to you to find a controlled environment that is exemplary of your professionalism. GSK suggests that "if you have family members or pets at home, let the interviewer know there might be some background noise. Use headphones to make the call if possible. Use a stand or books to prop your laptop on so it's at the right level for video calls. Minimize background noise by closing all windows and doors."
Similarly, HireVue offers on their website: "Just relax. If your dog barks or your kid runs across the screen-relax. It's okay. Your employer will understand, and if they don't, perhaps it's not the right culture fit for you. And that's okay. This is your time to showcase who you are and what you can add to an organization. Prepare, take a deep breath, and be yourself."
This is good advice. You'll want to be in a relatively quiet place with as little background noise as possible. The reason you want your camera angle to be at eye level is when it is positioned too low, it may make you seem domineering. Positioned too high, and it will make it seem as if they are looking down at you, making you seem weak or small. So center it, and make sure your lighting is equally balanced as well. Maintain eye contact in front of the camera as if you're speaking face-to-face with a person. Be mindful of your facial expressions. Furrowing your brow while concentrating on how to answer a question can easily be misinterpreted as exhibiting anger, which would raise a red flag.

"I've gotten to a point with my company where I feel my career isn't moving forward, and I don't have the growth and learning opportunities I crave. I've done my share of mentoring newer additions to my teams, but I don't truly feel challenged. So, I decided to start exploring my options. I have always admired GSK, so I started my search here. I immediately noticed how your career site advertises that this is a place where people can grow, be their best, be safe, and feel welcome, valued, and included. That is what I am looking for, and so here I am."
