What motivates you?
Interviewers will ask this question to determine whether you are motivated by the same drivers as GSK and how well you'll represent their company as one of their employees. "We want outstanding people who can help us improve the world's health and get ahead of disease together. Come, help us transform medicine. We're taking on some of the biggest healthcare challenges in the world. Ready to take your career to the next level? The focus you find throughout GSK will help you take ownership of your career and build and contribute to high-performing teams. We're committed to doing the right thing for the people who count on us, and our culture will help you deliver what matters most, better and faster."
HireVue's assessment model combines "video interviews with predictive, validated IO science and artificial intelligence. HireVue augments human decision-making in the hiring process and delivers higher quality talent, faster." The assessment model is asking you to give them a reason to hire you while studying your behavior to ascertain if you believe in what you are saying. They are evaluating your verbal and non-verbal cues for signs of honesty and confidence in your skills and whether you can identify what sets you apart from the other candidates. Answer with sincerity. If you can align your interests with the elements of what this opportunity offers, all the better.
Align your motives and purpose for choosing a rewarding career in healthcare with their values and purpose. This will offer them assurances you are less likely to burn out on a career you find rewarding. Also, even though you want to be consistent in your tone and answers, you want to vary them. GSK suggests to their candidates, "Try to vary your examples, though it is okay (and sometimes efficient) to use the same example to illustrate different competencies."
"I am motivated to further along the accelerating rate of medical developments and scientific breakthroughs we are seeing today. Similarly to GSK, I am all about improving the world's health and getting ahead of disease. With recent advancements in AI, I believe we are about to be ushered into a new age of medicine, and I want to be a part of that. This is my passion, and it motivates me. That's why I want to work for GSK - I feel like my brand of innovation would complement theirs, and I feel my contributions would be valued and rewarded with increased responsibilities as I strive to achieve my part in our mutual goals, as well as my career goals."
