With Stryker's core values of integrity, performance, accountability, and people comes the fact that the company is consistently trying to improve and innovate in all that they do. Without this mindset, the organization wouldn't have been able to create life-altering products like its procedural oxygen mask and the LUCAS chest compression system. The company and its leaders are not hesitant to give constructive feedback to team members, so your interviewer needs to know that you have the right mindset to take feedback in a positive and productive manner. Think back to a time you were given direct feedback on improving your work, and come to your interview ready to discuss how you received the feedback and how it helped your work improve moving forward.

"Early in my career out of college, I was very hesitant to speak up on a robust R&D team of seasoned professionals. I had several mentors have one-on-one conversations with me to help me boost my confidence and let me know that my education and limited experience would still be appreciated in the greater team effort. I found this feedback to be very inspiring and confidence building and didn't take anything that was said in a negative way. Throughout my career, I've come to realize that both giving and receiving feedback with my colleagues is important. My approach that I would bring to the Stryker team would to always be professional and respectful in the conversations."

I have been told in reviews that I don't delegate enough work out to my team and that I take on too much of the workload. With throrough introspection, I understood this to be true and learned quickly from the feedback and began delegating more lower risk tasks to my clinical team. This in turn lightened my workload so that I could focus on sales oriented tasks and also made my clinical team stronger also.

Lauren's Feedback
Fantastic response. This is a tangible example that allows the interviewer to know your personality and work style. I made minor edits to round out your response. See below.
Previous Performance Reviews expressed my lack of delegation to my team and my top-heavy workload. With thorough introspection, I agreed with this feedback, and expeditiously devised plans to delegate lower-risk tasks to my clinical team. In turn, this lightened my workload such that I was able to focus on sales-oriented tasks while making my clinical team stronger and more empowered. I welcome constructive feedback because we can all become stuck in a routine or system. Feedback allows me to take a step back, evaluate my processes, and enhance the situation.

I received feedback that I to appeared as if I was always in a hurry and that sometimes it seemed as though I was waiting for someone to finish their sentence so that I could say my piece. This wasn't easy to hear, but I took it to heart. I joined my local Toastmasters club so that I could learn the elements of communication and, as a result, have become more mindful about it.

Rachelle's Feedback
The fact that you took the feedback, and made actionable steps to improve, says everything about your work ethic. This is a very good answer.

I received feedback during a performance review that I needed to be more assertive with the leadership team. It was the first time in my HR career that I was giving high-level direction, and I was a little bit more passive than necessary. The feedback fostered the confidence I needed to address all future situations with clear, direct communication while still being open to discussion.

Rachelle's Feedback
It can feel great to finally receive high-level direction! Your answer shows how you accepted this reality and met it with positive change. Good answer!

A few weeks ago, I was on a ride-along with a seasoned rep, and he allowed me to lead all of the sales calls. After the calls, he gave me some constructive criticisms on how to handle some objections to what product we were selling. Then I was able to use his input to add to my sales pitch for future calls, which I have been doing since.

Rachelle's Feedback
Awesome answer! You show a keen ability to listen and then apply the feedback. Did you notice any improvements in your performance after implementing this feedback?

When I first got into my role as a supervisor, I was told by my team members that they felt their questions were not getting answered. To fix this, I created an action item spreadsheet that logged all their questions and suggestions, and here they would be able to see answers. Along with this, the person who had the original question would get the answer in person. The spreadsheet was shared with everyone so that the entire team could view it at any time.

Rachelle's Feedback
This is a great initiative! You took solid action on the feedback that you received, showcasing your strong leadership skills.

I received feedback from my manager regarding being impatient about finishing my daily duties in order to participate in different projects across the company, as I love new challenges, so we worked on a schedule to participate in other projects of the company setting a number of monthly hours to work on them, that way I could focus on my different duties knowing there was a time to find out new solutions.

Cindy's Feedback
Good! The purpose of this question is to gain insight into how you manage feedback and act on it. Your answer demonstrates a willingness to act on the feedback given.

I received constructive criticism in regards to being way too detailed oriented in one of my biocompatibility tables. I was told the information is good and to keep it but keep the table more towards what the auditor is expecting to see even though it has nothing to do with what should be in there, think just like the auditor. He is a strange one, but I finally cracked what he expects to see in our responses.

Amanda's Feedback
This is a good example! You can make your answer even stronger by telling how you reacted to the constructive feedback. Did you remove some of the detail? You can also share what the outcome was. Did you receive a high audit score because all relevant information was included appropriately?
