The Food and Drug Administration regulates the sale and monitors the safety of all medical device products in the United States. Outside of the U.S., there are many other regulating bodies that Stryker has to comply with and work with collaboratively. Your interviewer curiously asks how your work in the past has been involved with governing and regulatory agencies to ensure that you would come to Stryker with the wherewithal to always be in compliance with the work you will be performing in this role. Discuss your experience working in this realm in detail and stress that you will take priority in learning all new regulatory policies and protocols in this role with Stryker.

"Throughout my career in quality engineering, compliance within particular industry regulatory bodies was always a priority in my work. In my current job, the products we manufacture have to comply with both NHTSA and EPA regulations. From day one on that job seven years ago, I took the time to familiarize myself with how regulations impacted the design and production of many different parts and components that I was a part of. I continue to stay up to speed on new regulations to this day as well. If I were to join the team here at Stryker, the FDA and other healthcare governing agencies would be unfamiliar ground for me. I truly believe that my familiarity with organizations like the EPA will help me immensely in learning and complying with all regulations in this role."

In my current role, I have had experience in working with the Consumer Products Safety Commission and introducing two recalls in the last year.

Rachelle's Feedback
Good start! If possible, speak a bit more about the work and hurdles that you came across while dealing with the commission and the recalls. There is a lot of great information you could speak about here, highly transferable to the role with Stryker.
