Working with some of the largest medical centers in the world all the way down to small community hospitals and clinics puts the staff at Stryker in contact with many different personalities from the physicians, administrators, and frontline care staff they call on. If you are being considered for a direct customer-facing role there, your interviewer will want to get the sense that you can handle any difficult situation with a customer with ease. This is a great time to reflect upon any time you successfully navigated an irate customer situation in the past. Some things that would be good to discuss here are your ability to stay calm, ensure you listen to the customer with an open ear, and then act swiftly to make the situation better. If you can, try to focus your answer on the specific duties of the job you are interviewing for and what capacity you will be working alongside customers of Stryker.

"From what you and your team have had to say today, this role will be working closely on surgical equipment in the field and that would mean being face-to-face with surgeons and operating room staff. Some of my calls could be for equipment that isn't functioning properly and some customers could likely be mad about potential downtime. In situations like this in the past, I've proven my ability to listen intently to what the customers' concerns are and assure them of the timeline for things to be up and running. I have always found that by ensuring people are heard and giving expectations often diffuses negative situations. From there, I use my resources and tools to get to work quickly. I'm confident that this approach would work well as part of the Stryker team."
