"I feel perfectly comfortable under going any series of background checks. I would prefer to be informed of which background checks were going to be performed first, and would like to know whether any credit checks that would be performed might register on my credit report, as I would rather they not impact my score."

If you have anything on your record, such as a misdemeanour for, say, participating in a protest, or derogatory marks on your credit report, don't dodge the question. The more sincere you are, the better. But sometimes less is more, and you could simply say you have no issues participating in such checks, and when granted a face-to-face interview, you can then provide context to any concerns you have about what might turn up on a background check. The aim is it to show you have nothing to hide or be concerned about, and be willing to do whatever it takes to land the job with confidence, transparency, and integrity.

Modern Hire advertises that they provide their clients "better candidate evaluation for better outcomes." They state that their "automated interview scoring evaluates candidate responses, and offers recommended scores rankings. The interview process has never been more frictionless, thorough, or objective." So, as HSBC advises, relax, and showcase your best self throughout your interview.

Most assessment vendors study a candidate's performance for any signs of discomfort or dishonesty. Verbal cues they'll analyze for exaggeration or dishonesty include repeating a question before answering, speaking in sentence fragments, displaying a change in speech pattern, irregular speech, and rising and falling tone. When one's words don't match their gestures, it's the gestures that will be seen as the truth. So maintain eye contact and confident body language, make yourself comfortable, and speak from the heart. When possible, with questions such as these, be succinct in your answer. In cases like this, less is more.
