"My boss had delegated me to collect data and type up a report for him, in his voice, that he could present in a meeting. But I felt, since the data I was compiling was from several company sources that already existed in several charts and pie graphs, why not just compile those, in the order he wanted to present it, and then he could speak to that in a more effective way, rather than reading a script he didn't write. I felt my suggestion required less payroll hours, was less likely to result in rework, and was just a better plan. He agreed, because he is open to suggestions, and knows I have his intentions at heart. We work well together, for which I am grateful."
Your interviewer is curious how you will interpret this question, which is designed to partition their ideal candidates from those who present red flags. How you answer will inform them whether you have issues with authority, and are prone to insubordination, and work against the team, or if you exhibit integrity, are courageous, and will step up to advance the goal of the team in a respectful and innovative manner.

Another aspect of this question is to assess how skilled a communicator you are. So try to exhibit your strong communication skills when answering this question. Try not to stutter, ramble on, take awkward long pauses, or use habitual speeches, such as "uh," "like," "um," "you know," among others. Record your voice while answering some of these questions to identify your tics so you can better practice answering these questions without relying on such words. Also, pay close attention to your choice of words and what they might suggest beyond your intended meaning. Doing so will aid in presenting yourself as a clearer communicator and more of a professional.
