"Student advocacy is an important part of being a school counselor. As a student advocate, it would be necessary for me to work with teachers to help implement interventions that will benefit all students. I would also be expected to communicate with parents about issues at school that are having a negative effect on their children whether it be academic, social, or emotional issues. I would also be expected to collaborate with my principal to inform him/her of resources that could assist a student in addressing a particular need."
