Why do you want to be a TA?

I would like to help students, work with expert librarians and improve my skills.

I love working with kids and love seeing them succeed. I feel rewarded when I know I have played a role in helping kids meet their goals.

I enjoy interacting with children and would love to work alongside the class teacher to help them learn. I have two young children myself and with a large extended family have always been surrounded and involved with young children. When I left school I was involved in supervising at children's' discos at a youth club.

Working with children has always been an enjoyable experience for me, especially seeing them progress and learn something new - it is very self rewarding when you know that you are part of that progress. I would like to be a TA because I want to feel as if I am making a difference and have a positive input into the lives of young children.

What experiences do you have with leadership and with dealing with students?

I have been a teacher for 14 years. I have also been a mentor to a new teacher.

In my previous position I was a Practice Manager of Internal Medicine I had 30 staff and 11 physicians, and 3 APRN's I was responsible for.

In my previous job role I led a team of staff and secretaries. I was responsible for ensuring they met targets and complied with procedures. Should there be any complaints I was the first contact to try to remedy this. I was then answerable to my line manager, reporting back on statistics and work productivity and dealing with any team issues. With regards to students, my experience has been in Year 1 when I volunteered and currently in the nursery class where I have been involved in working alongside the teachers to assist with delivering the learning objectives.

Working with the twins has always kept me on my toes. I am able to guide them through the days activities successfully. I am able to keep them engaged whilst carrying out educational based activities. Whilst at uni there have been many times where I have had to lead groups of people, for example When working in the Lab I have to lead and guide students throughout the experiment. I was able to instruct them on what they had needed to do, I delegated the tasks between the students and we successfully completed the experiment.

Why would you make a good TA?

I am enthusiastic about education, students and working in a library.

I enjoy working with children. I was a Church School teacher for many years and truly felt that I made a difference in their religious education. I also helped out with rehearsals for our St. Nicholas Day program and assisted on the day of rehearsal and performance.

With my experience in my previous role where I have had to deal with clients who have experienced traumatic events to Court Judges I feel I have developed good communication skills, organisational skills and a high standard of reading, writing and numeracy skills. I am able to build good relationships with both adults and children showing enthusiasm with a positive attitude with whatever is asked of me. I am flexible, willing to participate and creative. I am patient, empathetic and have a sense of humour which is vital for the role.

I believe that I have the right skills and qualities required for this role, I am a dedicated and hardworking individual. I understand that all children are unique and have different styles of learning. I know that it is crucial to be patient and communicate effectively with the children. I also know that enthusiasm and praise goes a long way, this gives the child confidence and when a child is confident in the learning they can achieve great things.

About Teacher Assistants

Teacher assistants also are called teacher aides, instructional aides, paraprofessionals, education assistants and paraeducators.

Generally, teachers introduce new material to students, and teacher assistants help reinforce the lessons by working with individual students or small groups of students. For example, after the teacher presents a lesson, a teacher assistant may help a small group of students as they try to master the material.

Teachers may seek feedback from assistants to monitor students? progress. Some teachers and teacher assistants meet regularly to discuss lesson plans and student development. Teacher assistants sometimes help teachers by grading tests and checking homework.
