How do you look for further sales opportunities?

USAA has many different products that hold value for different people. Some value renter's insurance, others an auto loan or care about their retirement savings. In order to find out which products a customer needs, employees at USAA need to have an open and creative mind when helping find the best solution. Discuss with the interviewer how you are able to do that and what methods you use to determine the right solutions.

"I like to first ask questions about my customers' situation to get an idea of what they currently value. For example, if they start talking about how they are worried they don't have a plan for retirement and their car is in bad shape, we start with those."

"I like to get to know my customers by asking about what they are looking for when they come in, but also, I like to talk to them about their cars, homes and other topics to see what other services I can offer them."

I’d start by asking the customer about their current needs to get an idea of their situation. From there I try to look for solutions both current and long term.
