Preparation for this question involves two simple steps:
- Step 1: define a short-term career goal in alignment with the role that you're interviewing for. For many, this is as easy as stating that you want to move into the sector of relationship banking associated with the new role, or that you would like to work with clients in a new industry.
For others, the job they are interviewing for isn't actually on their list of career goals. Perhaps the job opportunity represents a horizontal move due to a recent layoff. In that case, select a broader goal such as 'seeking a job that allows me to leverage my expertise in XYZ skill set'.
