This question is designed to determine not only why you are looking for employment, but what your attitude toward your current or previous employer has to say about who you are as a candidate. They want to know if you are a bridge burner or a bridge builder. Someone who is looking for a career with a company that has more advancement opportunities or whose values feel more aligned has merit. Whereas someone is salary hopping or didn't get along with their coworkers or leadership likely has little to offer but more of the same.

Delta explicitly states on their careers site that they expect anyone they hire to fully "understand the company's values, expectations and business goals and that we act professionally and with good judgment in all we do." Their Core Values are Honesty, Integrity, Respect, Perseverance, and Servant Leadership. "Always tell the truth. Always keep your deals. Don't hurt anyone. Try harder than all our competitors. Never give up. Care for our customers, our community, and each other."

When preparing for your interview, Delta suggests you "keep in mind, your location of choice should have good lighting." So take time to find a location that has natural lighting, and where the light cast is evenly across your face. Also, HireVue's assessment model heavily relies on being able to see your face so that it can evaluate and assess your non-verbal cues as much as what you have to say and how you say it. So, if it can't see you, or its findings are inconclusive, it might eliminate you as a candidate. This is likely why HireVue repeatedly suggests avoiding being backlit. "Lighting from behind makes it hard to see you. Just be natural! Get comfortable and be confident in yourself." So help the algorithm classify you as a top performer.

"Well, I just finished college and earned my degree in public relations and communications. My part-time job was great for me during that stage of my life, and I enjoyed working with the public and in customer service. But that job was always meant to be a temporary measure, and I was forthright about that when I was hired. Now, with my degree under my belt, I am ready to embark on a new adventure... the rest of my life. And adventuring the globe with Delta feels like the right move. Working in this position would allow me to put my enhanced skills and my degree to work, and feels like the right move to propel my career of choice forward."
