You want to showcase that you exercised emotional maturity, which ultimately resulted in a successful outcome. Highlight the positives. Also, make sure your verbal and non-verbal cues are consistent with one another. Get into a relaxed and comfortable posture. When expressing empathy nonverbally, remember to tilt your head slightly, nod slowly, keep your palms open, maintain eye contact, smile softly, and raise your eyebrows slightly.
"Not long ago, I had a disagreement with a coworker on their interpretation of a store policy. Their interpretation was clearly slated in their favor, and I disagreed. For me, it was an issue of ethics. So, our discussion, although calm, came to the point where they said I didn't get to decide for them how to interpret the policy. And I replied that they didn't get to decide whether I reported them violating that policy, if it indeed turned out to be a violation. At that point, they reversed course. But I still informed our supervisors that they should keep an eye out, in case they tried it again when they were working with another coworker."
