"A healthy balance between my career and my home life starts with my family and the quality time we can spend together. We are avid sports fans and travel throughout California to watch our A's, 49ers, and Warriors teams compete. Our kids also keep us very busy with their sports and school activities. I'm also a very firm believer that a healthy lifestyle involving diet and exercise is vital to ensuring that my mental and physical health is in order at all times. I find that my time at work is greatly benefitted by my healthy and active lifestyle. I know that this role with Kaiser Permanente will come with some very pressure-packed days. Your team will quickly see that I'm able to handle these with ease."

I like my job, and I enjoy what I do. But when I'm home, I don't think about work. I want to relax, read a book, meditate, go out with my friends or take my mom to eat at a good restaurant and enjoy my day off to come back to work recharged.

Rachelle's Feedback
It sounds like you have a very full personal life, with a fantastic work/life balance. Very good answer!

While at work, I am focused and driven to take care of my patients and team members. However, at home, I enjoy spending time with my family which includes going to the gym with my daughter several times a week. I also practice Gumdo, and Koren Sword Fighting several times a week. I am a brown belt and will soon test for my high brown belt. I love that it keeps my core body strength to decrease back pain. Also, I have built muscle mass which aids in positioning patients at work so I do not get hurt. I enjoy volunteering for my daughter's Marching Band and Orchestra groups.

Well done! This answer illustrates that you have interests and activities outside the workplace that help you stay healthy, active, and engaged with your family and friends. Consider strengthening it further by explaining that taking time for yourself and things you enjoy outside work hours helps recharge you so that you can give your best to your patients and team during work hours.

There’s sure to be burnout in our field. And to prevent that I indulge in self-care by spending time with my family. Being grounded in nature helps me recharge so I go on hikes and to the beach often and trying new things like visiting new cities and new restaurants satisfies my craving for new experiences. All of these things help recharge me and prepare for the next work week.

Jaymie's Feedback
Practicing self-care and engaging in hobbies and activities you enjoy are great ways to create a healthy work-life balance.

There can be times when work days feel long or stressful which may lead to burnout. This makes it difficult to have a good, consistent work ethic. When I am not working, I try my best to do things for myself that I enjoy and are stress-free. With the free time I have, I will walk/play with my dogs, spend time with friends and family, and relax and recharge. I will take planned vacations to ensure I am not overworking myself. I know that giving this time to myself is essential to having a healthy balance of life and work.

Jaymie's Feedback
Self-care is essential, and it sounds like you've found the right balance of self-care, work, and engaging in hobbies outside of work to help reduce stress.
