Anheuser-Busch takes pride in hiring curious and bold employees. As highlighted on their website, their brand was built on entrepreneurship and ownership. As such, they seek to hire team members who will bring a similar entrepreneurial spirit. That means individuals who are open to challenges, take risks, and do well under pressure.

"I feel like I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, even before I was in management roles. If I think I can make something better or that a change is needed, I will do what I can to make that a reality. I am careful, of course -- an important part of having an entrepreneurial spirit is being able to take calculated risks that lead to the results you need."

"The fact that Anheuser-Busch wants to hire employees with an entrepreneurial spirit is one of the many reasons I was drawn to working for this company. So many companies want employees to just go through the motions, never making a change. I want to work for a company where I can use my entrepreneurial spirit to think of new and better ways to market your products."

Reflect on the traits you hold that align with an 'entrepreneurial spirit,' whatever that means to you. You might have taken initiative to create a new program or committee in a previous role. Perhaps you contributed to a start-up organization that required you to be scrappy and think outside of the box. Whatever it is, emphasize that you've demonstrated boldness, creativity, or other traits that an entrepreneur might hold in the past.

In my opinion, entrepreneurial spirit is a mindset. It's an attitude and approach to thinking that actively seeks out change, rather than waiting to adapt to change. It's a mindset that embraces critical questioning, innovation, service and continuous improvement. I think I have this kind of spirit. I once started a small business in college. Even though I stopped the business because of my studies, I think my simple business model is feasible. I found some like-minded classmates and started the service of helping people to pick up express goods on campus. Because the express delivery points in our school are very scattered, students of our age are mostly lazy. That's why I came up with this startup model.

Ok, good start! Is "entrepreneurial spirit" really about taking ownership of your job, as if you were contributing to your own business? Take another look at your answer and perhaps focus on this central point. It's great that you started your own business, but how did that experience establish your approach to work, again, as if you owned it?

I consider myself to have an entrepreneurial mindset in that I look to take calculated risks. Whether it be a business process that needs adjusting, or how to market a product I feel that I bring great insight to driving change. I just recently took the first step to becoming a landlord, something I look to work on outside of work. I was able to run cost analysis and fees before making the jump to buying my first home, and I now have tenants that also pose risks and challenges but I am eager to learn and continue to grow.

Amanda's Feedback
You've done a great job highlighting your entrepreneurial spirit by explaining what you do in and outside of the workplace to work smarter, keep learning, or branch out into new areas, which are often key goals of entrepreneurship.
