There are thrill-seekers who enjoy the rush of taking the leap, and there are those who recognize the planning required before taking a leap. Your actions affect others, which is why it's important to exercise caution when making a risky decision in a corporate environment. Your interviewer wants to hear that you understand that fine line between taking risks and exercising caution when making professional decisions.

"Last year I decided to apply for a new job within my company, but in a different department. I wanted to move from a customer service-based role into a sales-based opportunity. The risk was that if I did not get the job, my manager may think I was no longer interested in my current title. The flip side was taking on a new challenge in a job function I really knew very little about. In the end, I received the transfer, and it all worked out!"

"I am a cautious person, but over the years I have become better at taking calculated risks. I once applied for a supervisor position within my department. I knew that I may have been a bit underqualified but I believed that my work ethic and dedication to the company made me a great candidate. I ended up getting the role because I believed in myself."

You may be early in your career, with the riskiest decision being that you changed your major in college from English to business. That's okay! Although Anheuser-Busch respects risk-takers, they want to hear that you know how to make wise, calculated risks.

I believe the riskiest decision I have made was applying and interviewing for the production controller role that I am now in. This position is typically promoted from within, but the other production controllers have a typical tenure of anywhere from 3-5 years in the building, across several departments. I had only been in the building for around 9 months, in 1 department but was confident in myself and my willingness to learn, and performed well on the interview and have since become the quickest OM to production controller ever in the building.

Fantastic answer! You've used this question as an opportunity to highlight your willingness to take a calculated risk in order to keep growing professionally. This answer also does a great job of showcasing that you're a high-quality candidate capable of mastering new tasks or roles quickly because you share that were able to obtain the position in a much shorter timespan than OM before you.
