Workplace culture and fit are significant factors when considering a career move. The interviewer asks you about their school's culture to gauge your familiarity with the institution and its values. Understanding the school's culture can help you better advise students and provide them with the support they need to succeed. Additionally, the interviewer may want to assess how well you will fit in with the school's community and contribute to its overall goals and mission. It's essential to do your research and be prepared to demonstrate your knowledge of the school's culture during the interview.
Assure the interviewer that you have put thought, research, and consideration into how the workplace culture will work for you and how you will be an excellent fit if hired for the position.

I began working at ____ in 2015 and it was immediately my happy place. Not that everything was perfect but that so many folks are amazing and are constantly working to improve systems, support, and service to students. I began in the ABS department teaching ELL. Then I worked in the Learning Center. Enrollment expert in the New Student Orientation where I was selected and offered the position of part-time advisor which I began in 2018. I had experienced co-workers and supervisors who had worked together in support of students, who had allowed and supported staff to develop their abilities and use their personal skill sets ... working around the hierarchy when it didn't serve the process. I have observed leadership that is inclusive, forward-thinking, and positive. I see a lot of passionate employees in all roles leverage their interests to create co-curricular, extra-curricular, and curriculum-based opportunities for student involvement. As part-time faculty, I have access to professional development funds, and my immediate supervisor has offered me training whenever possible and included me in all faculty training. We have a culture of lifelong learning. I am energized by the opportunities offered here. Community colleges are open-access and we strive to remove as many barriers to advancement as possible.
