      What You Need to Know

Open-ended questions are some of the hardest to answer in an interview. It's essential to train yourself how to talk about yourself. It may sound silly because you've been talking about yourself for years!

In an interview, you should leave out the highly personal stuff. No need to talk about your new puppy or your favorite foods. Keep it professional and concise. Interviews typically last about thirty minutes to an hour, so keep that in mind as you prepare. Sometimes practicing with a friend or timing your response can help.

Focus on your interest or passion for the field, education, and accomplishments. Keep it relevant to the job at hand! Also, there is plenty of time to discuss your skills and strengths during the interview, so you don't have to say it all in one gulp.

I have worked my way up in my field and plan to continue progressing with your fine university. When not working, I enjoy attending my children's baseball games, having picnics at the beach, and running on the trails behind my house. I also enjoy traveling and have visited 33 of the 50 states in the US and ten overseas countries. My travels have prepared me nicely for working with diverse groups and cultures."
