Unfortunately, I did not understand what an academic advisor could do for me. In the end, I self-advised and as a result, worked harder not smarter. Now when I tell students about the resources and methods that work if they are interested I am truly excited. I did use the learning center in graduate school and I eventually learned what an advisor does and found my home. I think I originally began thinking about Advising when I met a friend 20 years ago. Since then...I have found my perfect career.
