The interviewer wants to see that you understand this requirement and that you do not have an issue with these inquiries. Your response will also advise the interviewer if they should continue moving forward in the hiring process.
If you can successfully pass a criminal record check and education verification: 'Yes, I am happy to comply with any background checks required. My record is clean.'
If you are unable to successfully pass a criminal record check and education verification, you want to be upfront about that when asked.
