"My top 5 strengths from the Clifton Strengths assessment are: WOO-I'm energized by people and tend to see the best in each person, Communication, Empathy- This is where I hear what isn't being said. Also, hearing someone's lived experience and affirming that. It is important to accept someone's perspective. I utilize active listening and can build and form relationships with emotional depth. Connectedness is because I believe we can all lift each other up to create the best world and Individualization. I think each of these is helpful and that individualization is the summation of many of these. It means that I consider the uniqueness and personal story of each individual I work with. I am already familiar with the programs, Degree Works, AVISO, and other processes we use. I can navigate complex advising situations. I employ a culturally aware lens and believe my job is that of a cultural navigator explaining college to students and supporting them in navigating that culture. My strengths include active listening, communication, empathy, reframing, and affirming a student's experience. They share their life experience, their struggles, and successes with me. Then I help to guide and empower them to make the decision that is the best for them."
