      What You Need to Know

Any employer relies on their staff to be on time to ensure operations run smoothly. Every employee is part of a much larger team. When one person runs behind, it could affect the success of the entire staff. So, your answer needs to address the two components this question aims to reveal; your time management skills, and your emotional intelligence. On the time management side, how well do you prepare for your morning and your day to ensure you are on time to work at the very least? On the EQ side, they want to know how you handle situations that occur which could make you inevitably late. Do you respond with fear, and stress out all the way to work trying to beat the odds or limit how late you are, or do you call into work to let make them aware of the situation, assuring them you are making every effort, but wanted to give them a heads up. Give an example that will show The Hershey Company that you plan and take a proactive approach to these types of situations.

      1st Answer Example

"I always arrive to work at least 15 minutes before I am expected to be there, to give me extra time in case something happens. I also make sure I have the numbers of my co-workers and boss so that I can call to let them know if I'm stuck or might be running late."

      2nd Answer Example

"I was raised to be early, at all times. I am well-scheduled and understand the negative impact that my tardiness can cause. If I am to be late, I am sure to call my manager, or whoever will be affected by the situation. I will also put in extra hours when necessary."
