You'll want to speak as clearly and concisely as possible when detailing your communication skills. Discuss what enhanced communication means to you, such as recognizing when to step up your skills when communicating with someone less skilled than you. Recognize when emotion is hampering clear communication and showcase an ability to implement non-defensive communication. Explain that you always exhibit empathy, taking measures to ensure the message sent is the message received, from mirroring to actively listening. In their words, as phrased in several of their job postings, they are looking for candidates who are able "to actively listen, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate."

"I would rate my communication skills as a 7 out of 10 because there is always room for improvement. Sometimes I am not as clear as I would like, but I want to improve. My supervisor and coworkers will attest to my clear and concise communication skills."

"Communication is essential in the airline industry, as in any industry. I am a very open person and will always be clear if I need any clarification on anything. Communication needs to run both ways smoothly. I am also a very attentive listener, great at mirroring and ensuring everyone feels heard. I would say communication is one of my strong suits."

My communication skills is an 8 out of 10. There is definitely room for improvement. I try to utilize all tools I am able to. I make sure I know my team, what they require from me to be able to have a smooth flight on time departures and satisfied passengers.

Stephanie's Feedback
I am curious where you see room for improvement, and if so, how you're actively working to address those areas. Because communication is a critical aspect of being a flight attendant, I suggest rating yourself as a 9 (this is no time to be humble!) If you choose to rate yourself lower than that, I suggest providing very specific examples of how you are working to improve.
Prepare for behavioral scenarios and operational questions that airline interviewers prioritize.
