Advice and answer examples written specifically for a Tesla job interview.
3. Sales can move at a pretty hectic pace. Would you describe yourself as a structured person, or do you go with the flow?
How to Answer
Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, says, "Numbers will never compensate for talent." The act of sales requires the ability to read a customer and respond appropriately so that you can persuade the customer to the point of purchase. The interviewer is trying to assess if you can handle this part of the position. Think about how you have had to adapt on your toes in a previous job and relate your ability to think on your feet. Reassure the interviewer that you can perform.

1st Entry Level Example
"I'd say I know what to do and how to do it. I have the confidence and the skills required to do my job well, so I don't think too much about what comes to me naturally. In that regard, I guess I go with the flow."

1st Answer Example
"I like structure, but I can adapt pretty quickly. I love the structure of sales, but I know that customers do not follow our scripts. That is why I have had to learn different closing techniques. I try to meet the guest where they are and then help move them closer to purchasing a car."

2nd Answer Example
"I would say that I am a little of both. I have had to adapt to being able to persuade customers by engaging them in dialogue with the intent of moving them closer to the point of sale. I like structure, but I have learned how to adapt. I look forward to bringing that balance to my work at Tesla."
