Questions about compensation are always a little tricky, especially if a salary range wasn't posted in the job description. Rather than directly answer the question, I always suggest flipping the question back on the interviewer. For example, "Do you have a salary range in mind for this role?" or "Are you able to share a salary range?" If the interviewer isn't able to answer, then I suggest giving a range rather than an exact number. For example, "My target salary is 38-45 an hour. Are you able to share if this role falls within that range?"
