Jeff Bezos wrote, "Diversity at Amazon has always been, and always will be, committed to equal rights, tolerance, and diversity. And we firmly reject and have zero tolerance for, harassment of any kind. We're a company of builders whose diverse backgrounds, ideas, and points of view are critical to helping us invent on behalf of all our customers. But it's not only that diversity and inclusion are good for our business. It's more fundamental than that, it's simply right. These are enduring values for us, and nothing will change that."

"I have worked with diverse groups of people most of my career, including my time at Baylor University. I moved from India, which is one of the most diverse cultures in the world. During my time at MBA, I met people from Brazil, Morocco, and Africa. I learned how people can think from different perspectives and how business implications could differ from culture and politics. I am most comfortable and happy in this type of environment because it offers a great learning opportunity."

Rachelle's Feedback
This is a great start! If possible, give a direct story related to diversity to keep your interviewer engaged. For instance, "While living in India, my school classrooms represented 13 cultures and four languages...what I learned from the experience was..."

I have worked with diverse groups of people for mostly my entire career. From my last role as a catering business owner, I have experience engaging with people of different cultural backgrounds. From time to time, schools planned events where we were given an assigned station to assist parents with their inquiries about our lunch services. I enjoy this environment because it offers me great learning opportunities to assist others with their needs. With this experience, I gained skills and knowledge on being a good listener, handling various situations, and resolving issues within a company.

Stephanie's Feedback

This is a great start! You can strengthen your answer further by explaining how your role requires you to interact with diverse groups or teams. You can also relate what you've learned, how you've grown, or the benefits you've gained from working in a diverse environment.

Yes, I believe that the differences in our cultures and societies make us interesting and open to discovery. I love working with a diverse group of people and I have been working with people from all over the world since I started my career. I worked with Spanish, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Norwegian, Swedish, and many more. All these people had a unique style of working so I have learned a lot from them. It helped me to broaden my worldview and enriched my knowledge of the personalities of people from different countries. Thanks to this, I will not have any difficulties working with a diverse group of people if I start working at Amazon.

Amanda's Feedback
Your answer illustrates that you've worked with people from many different countries. You can strengthen it further by sharing what role(s) allowed you to work with individuals from around the world and how many years of experience you have working in diverse environments. It would also be helpful to share more specifically what you've learned by working with diverse groups, such as additional language skills, the importance of cultural sensitivity, how to communicate clearly, etc.

When I moved to Singapore. It was my first time living and working outside of Australia. In that employer, I was surrounded by a diverse group of people from dozens of different companies, with diverse career backgrounds, from lawyers to airline pilots. This showed me how narrow my life experience had been. I quickly needed to learn how to communicate with people who have English as a second language, or whose English usage style differed from mine. And more importantly, it taught me how to connect with, learn from, and cooperate with people whose life experiences and cultural values were quite different from mine. As someone who was tasked with organizational change, I developed a reputation for preferring actions over inaction, and so my colleagues helpfully taught me how to say "hurry up" in several different languages.
Marcie's Feedback
It definitely sounds like you value diversity, which is great. You also appear to have lots of experience working in diverse atmospheres which the interviewer will appreciate. Finally, the little touch of humor ('hurry up') goes a long way. Good answer!

_____ is all about diversity and inclusiveness and I myself embrace the culture even when I hire. We are a multinational global company working with all countries.
Marcie's Feedback
It's great that you've worked with a diverse group of people before and that you try to hire people of all different cultures, ages, gender, disabilities, academic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and so on. Consider talking more about the benefits that come from diversity (for example, being given the opportunity to learn from various perspectives). Good job!

What I love about being a customer-facing consultant are the different people and personalities you get to meet as you move from project to project. I have worked with clients throughout Europe and the Middle East, as well as colleagues.
For example, for one customer project, the customer's corporate headquarters was in Switzerland, the account team was Swiss; the customer's technical staff was Spanish; I'm American/British; the project manager was Indian, and my line manager was Italian. Despite all these cultural differences, we came together to deliver a successful project. I truly loved working with the Spanish who were very warm and friendly whilst also maintaining the high standards set by HQ in Switzerland. It was a joy working on a project that involves people from different cultures coming together.
Marcie's Feedback
Awesome! Your answer makes it clear that you appreciate working with people from different cultures and nationalities. Excellent use of an example. Nice job!
