Part of Amazon's culture is a belief that trust must be earned, whether it's the trust of your teams or your customers. As Jeff Bezos said, "Going way back, we just sold books, and then we started selling music and DVDs and electronics and toys and so on, and then we extended into electronic reading with Kindle. The reason customers have been receptive in large part to our new initiatives is because we have worked hard to earn their trust with them. Earning trust with customers is a valuable business asset. And if you mistreat their data, they will know, they will figure it out. Customers are very smart. You should never underestimate customers."

Signing a non-disclosure agreement is standard in the software and technology industry and is required for all Amazon employees. If hired, you will likely become privy to trade secrets, pending patents, and other innovative projects that must remain confidential. Talk to the interviewer about your willingness to sign an agreement. If you are currently under a non-disclosure or non-compete agreement with your present employer, now is the time to discuss that.

I understand the significance of a non-disclosure agreement, especially in the software industry. Although I am not under any agreement at this moment, I did sign such documents earlier in my career. I am comfortable signing an agreement if it is required.

Rachelle's Feedback
Great! You are very willing, understanding, and sound highly cooperative :)

I have signed non-disclosure agreements in the past and it was not a problem for me. On the contrary, I see it as a necessity for successful companies. I am happy to review and sign any privacy and confidentiality agreements that you have.

Amanda's Feedback
This is a solid response that illustrates your past experience with NDAs and level of comfort working under one.
Anonymous Answer
This is standard practice nowadays. I will willingly sign a non-disclosure agreement.
Marcie's Feedback
Great! The interviewer will appreciate that you're open to signing a non-disclosure agreement if hired. You might mention that you understand that this is frequently necessary to protect trade secrets, customer information, product designs, and so on.
Anonymous Answer
Yes, of course. I think they are significant.
Marcie's Feedback
Why do you think they are significant? Explain this to the interviewer. Have you signed any of them before in the past? If so, tell the interviewer about this too.
Anonymous Answer
I understand these agreements are part of doing business. For example, at the moment, I'm under a confidentiality agreement with my previous employer until March 2022. I'll be happy to review and sign an agreement with Amazon as part of my employment.
Marcie's Feedback
Great! Mentioning that you have signed NDAs in the past for other jobs helps show the interviewer that this won't be a problem for you. Nice job!
