Life at Adyen can get a bit hairy, depending on your position and how many changes come your way every week. Working in this industry can be challenging due to the fast-paced and constantly evolving nature of technology. Keeping up with the latest advancements and technologies requires continuous learning and adaptation. Additionally, there can be high pressure and expectations to deliver innovative and successful products or services. However, with determination and a willingness to learn, the rewards can be significant in terms of personal and professional growth, as well as making a positive impact on society.
Talk to the interviewer about which areas of your career are the most stressful. Ensure that your answer does not include a factor that would make you appear unfit for the position (i.e., a software engineer should not find writing code the most stressful part of the job). Then, explain how you work through the stress, whether on or off the job.

"The part of my career that brings me the most stress is when the schedule is running behind due to a lack of hustle on my team's part. I like to be on time with my schedule to ensure that my clients are taken care of. To alleviate stress, I hold weekly team meetings to ensure we are all on the same page and use project software management tools to monitor if the team is staying on track. After implementing those two things, my stress levels have decreased substantially!"

"My targets are pretty inflated at the moment, despite the bad economic situation. Every year, we have an automatic 15% increase in our targets when in reality, many of my big clients are clawing back on their spending this year. It stresses me out because I have doubled my cold calling numbers and spend 30% more time on the road, but the numbers aren't adding up yet. To help alleviate this stress, I have started listening to inspirational podcasts when traveling, exercising regularly, and developing new marketing ideas to increase sales. My stress levels have decreased significantly after realizing the economy is out of my hands and implementing a few stress relievers into my daily activities."

I genuinely love my current position (this is not rhetoric).
Of course, my job has challenges "” but I would not say that I am stressed.
I started looking for another position because I wanted to grow my career.

Rachelle's Feedback
It's awesome that you find your current position enjoyable! In the case of this question, I suggest taking an alternate route. Everyone has some form of stress (whether one-time or ongoing), and the interviewer needs to have a clear idea of how you react/behave when you face a challenge. Your example does not have to be an ongoing stressor in your job, leading you to quit. A desire to grow your career will be too vague to convince an employer, but we can address the question, 'Why are you looking for a new job?' outside of this feedback :)

I can't think of any daily stress in my day-to-day activities, but one recent example comes to mind while implementing a high-priority project. I was the lead on this and coordinated the technical implementation internally and also assisted the external teams that experienced technical struggles and concerns they had. It was a stressful situation to manage outputs from different teams however in this scenario I believe the stress helped me perform better because I used it to fuel my focus to ensure we have a smooth go-live that is implemented on time. and during this, I have grown and stress less when more situations like this arise because I pull from past experiences.

Awesome! This is a strong answer. You use the STAR method well to describe the situation, your task/actions, and the end result. It's also great that you highlight how the stress pushed you to excel. Excellent response!
