One example of going above and beyond for an employer is taking on extra responsibilities outside one's job description without being asked to do so. This shows dedication and a willingness to help the company succeed beyond one's role. Additionally, taking the initiative to develop innovative ideas or solutions to problems can be a valuable asset to the organization. Finally, consistently putting in extra effort and working long hours when necessary can show a strong work ethic and commitment to the company's goals.
Show the interviewer that you can do more than just the bare minimum. Show that you can react appropriately when you see that your employer has a need that exceeds your daily expectations by giving an example of going above and beyond.

"During sales calls with a prospect or a touch base with an existing customer, I often hear them mention a feature that would sweeten the software for them. I created a Google Sheet with these suggestions, who made them, why, and in what context. I then shared this document with the product team and the other member of our sales team to help them keep a finger on the pulse of what our customer base is seeking. Now, almost everyone updates the spreadsheet with feedback, and it is the primary source from which the product team chooses new features to build out."

I am well known in my year at my University as the go-to person when you have a problem. I helped three colleagues with their theses, and I took time to answer new students' questions. I am also very proactive in offering help. At my last job, my boss had no more tasks for me, so instead of sitting on Facebook, I asked around to see if someone had a project I could help out with.
