Diversity in the workplace fosters innovation by drawing from a wide range of perspectives, experiences, and cultures. This requires everyone to have a high degree of cultural competence to collaborate effectively, providing a work environment where everyone feels safe to be themselves. Diversity questions are one way to assess cultural competence. How you answer this question stands to inform your interviewer whether you can find a unified professional purpose with each member of your team, despite culture, background, or gender, and build strong relationships with everyone equally.

There is a great deal of material on the website dedicated to their DEI efforts, and to combatting areas of their business lacking diversity, equity, and inclusion "to proactively address the attraction and retention challenges that stem from male-dominated working environments."

When discussing diversity, focus on the commonalities that unite us all, such as teamwork, helping each other with our professional goals, our basic needs, and unifying experiences. Communicate clearly and decisively to avoid appearing uncomfortable or out of your element. Emphasize your cultural competence by focusing on the unifiers of diversity and demonstrating curiosity, openness, empathy, and acceptance.
