Your interviewer is curious about what motivators contribute to your job satisfaction the most. A less experienced candidate might suggest monetary performance incentives or financial rewards as their primary motivators. Whereas, a more career-minded professional will offer carefully mapped out career goals they hope to accomplish within certain timeframes. An ideal candidate will not only be focused on their career but also be motivated by the company's values, vision, and commitments. Keep this in mind when formulating your answer to this question.

"Being rewarded for my merits. I work hard for the benefit of my teams and the company I am loyal to because I am passionate about it. But if I don't feel appreciated, nor rewarded with greater trust, development, and growth, I'll eventually lose steam. But don't get me wrong, I just want to further my career within the given timeframes and to be entrusted to share the vision while doing my part to help steer the ship. Beyond that, engaging my team, riding the energy of working together with positivity, camaraderie, and looking forward to getting back to it the following day."

When performing your research on the company, read through their employee code of conduct, where they say, "Our purpose is the reason why we get out of bed each morning, looking forward to a new and exciting day. It is not only about creating value for our shareholders, but what we contribute to the world we all share. That means satisfying our customers, attracting and retaining great talent and being a responsible and valued member of our communities. If our purpose is the 'why,' then our values are the 'how.' They are our moral code and set standards for the right behaviours, as individuals and as a company."
