Question 30 of 30

Have you ever helped someone else achieve their goal or better themselves? If so, how?

"My senior year of college, my roommate was having a tough time getting ready for a huge mid-term exam. She really needed help, so we stayed up late every night for a week, writing essay answers and reviewing flashcards. While we worked together, she became less stressed out about the test and felt more confident about how she would do. She ended up getting a better grade than she hoped for, and we went out that weekend and celebrated her accomplishment."

  • 30. Have you ever helped someone else achieve their goal or better themselves? If so, how?

      How to Answer

Working as a Target team-member will frequently involve helping your coworkers complete tasks and achieve their goals. Employers want to know that you exhibit selflessness and are eager to accomplish goals as a team. Think about the times you have helped a friend or coworker achieve a goal. You may have run a few miles with them each day in preparation for a 10k. Maybe you offered to watch your friend's kids for an evening so she and her partner could have a date night out. Give a brief description of the scenario and mention the outcome for your friend or coworker.

      2nd Answer Example

"My coworker was recently up for a huge promotion at work, and he really felt like he needed help preparing. I helped him look over and make changes to his resume, and we set up a mock-interview so we could run through questions he may be asked. Even though he didn't end up getting the promotion, he was really grateful -- he said he felt more confident about applying for promotions and new jobs in the future."
