"In my current position I have one particular client who is an exceptionally brief communicator. If I ask two questions, he tends to answer only one. I learned quickly that he would not acknowledge anything for which he did not have a direct answer, so I began to ask him questions in a different way. For example, I would say 'Do you have an answer for me on question X?' and he would say yes or no. We would then go from there. This method was an effective form of communication for that particular client. I have a few approaches that will be useful when working for TAL."

I had a few co-workers in my team who were more senior than me; they have been working for the company way longer than I have. At first, I found it hard for me to purpose new ideas to them, especially if it was something that had never been done before. I learned quickly that they just wanted to be heard and understood. So I began to change the way I communicated with them. I would always start by asking how things have been done so far and what are their perspective towards it. We would then go from there. I found this method a very effective form of communication, not just for that particular co-workers, but for everybody really. Good listening creates this safe environment in which differences can be discussed openly.

Rachelle's Feedback
You provide some good examples of your communication skills and interpersonal strengths. When telling a specific story of 'a time when,' I recommend closely following the STAR framework. This requires picking one particular instance vs. providing a generalized story of your overall work.
Situation: The background information an interviewer needs to make sense of your story.
Task: Continuing to set the stage, you then give the interviewer an idea of your role and responsibilities in this specific story.
Action: Next, you offer a detailed description of the steps you took to tackle the situation.
Result: Last, you talk about the specific achievements and outcomes that resulted from your actions.
