Others don't always communicate with you in the style that you would prefer. Talk to the interviewer about a time when you have handled a supervisor who does not interact with you in a way that you like or that is clear to you.

"Whenever I have had a supervisor who does not properly communicate with me, I first try to learn their style of communication and emulate it. I also try to ask a lot of questions and document instructions in writing as much as possible in order to make sure I'm understanding."

People have different communication styles, and I like to take the time to understand them, especially when it comes to my supervisor. If I find that they haven't communicated clearly enough, I would keep asking questions until I had a clear direction. Some people communicate more clearly through writing than in person. In that case, I would politely ask them to write emails next time. Or vice versa.

Rachelle's Feedback
Taking the time to get to know other people's communication style is important, indeed. It sounds like you are thoughtful and mindful in your communication. If you have experienced this situation, this question presents a good opportunity to give a brief story-based answer of a 'time when.'
