The interviewer wants to learn more about any relevant background and experience you have. If you have experience in the industry, start by giving the interviewer a high-level overview by sharing where you have worked, your job title, and how long you were employed there. Add a sentence or two about what your job duties were in each role and how you performed. Be sure to mention your interest in the industry and that you look forward to continuing to work in food industry roles.
If you don't have any experience in the food industry, that's okay! Tell the interviewer that while your experience in the industry is limited, you look forward to making the transition and learning everything there is to know. While having some experience is preferable to none, many hiring managers will care more about how hard you'll work and your eagerness to learn than your direct experience.

"I have worked in the food industry with Company XYZ for the past two years. I have formal training in food safety and other health-related certifications. I served in a customer-facing role 80% of the time in this role, which I feel has equipped me for this role with Starbucks."

"I'm new to the foodservice industry, but am really looking forward to learning all that I can about Starbucks beverages and food on the job and via the Starbucks Coffee Academy. I have already thoroughly researched the industry through XYZ resource and think it would be a perfect fit for my hospitality and foodservice professional goals. At my current job in sales, I serve in a customer service role and have gained extensive experience working with customers to provide them with the best possible experience. With this customer service foundation in place, I'm willing to work hard and learn all that I can to be a great Starbucks barista."
