The environment is fast-paced and challenging at Facebook. How do you determine priorities when you have multiple projects due?

      How to Answer

Facebook welcomes over 2.32 billion users every month, all of who have unique needs, interests, and goals. The interviewers would like to be sure that you can handle the pressure of being needed in more than one place at once while remaining focused on meeting those users' needs. Think about how you decide what needs your attention the most when you feel torn between multiple projects or tasks. Assure the interviewers that you can be diligent when it comes to assessing your priorities.

      Rachelle's Answer

"First and foremost, I will prioritize projects that most closely align with the company's strategic goals and have the highest potential to affect the company's bottom line. Also, I often determine which projects require my attention by the number of hours we are behind and then the project size. I am comfortable delegating tasks when needed, but I am also aware that these times will require an additional commitment of hours from me. Never have I underdelivered on a deadline."

      Rachelle's Answer

"Assuming that the projects have different departmental stakeholders, I analyze each to determine the value of increased productivity, morale or revenue, decreased costs, and the overall impact. From there, I make my decision on where to focus first."

"I'd prioritize based on projects that are most closely aligned with the company or the team's strategic goals and that will generate the highest level of impact. Also, I will assess the actions that need to be taken, to think about what I need to do in terms of the number of hours. I will delegate and allocate work after that."

      Stephanie's Answer

This response illustrates your project management style and attention to strategic priorities. If you have specific examples of ways that you prioritize and handle competing priorities (example: specific systems you use,) feel free to include those as well.
