Recruitment, staffing, and talent management projects can change without notice, for a variety of reasons. In the staffing services industry, you may find that your client calls off a job search after you have poured all of your energy into the project. Maybe your client changes their ideal candidate profile. Or, perhaps your client forgot to mention that the role requires extensive travel or eventual relocation and now your top candidate is no longer interested in the role.
Talk to the interviewer about a time when you had to change your approach to a project or task due to the introduction of new information. Discuss how you reacted, and what you did to keep your motivation going despite the let-down. Most of all, the Adecco interviewer wants to see that you are adaptable and able to react professionally when projects don't always go the way you expected. Consider forming a story-based response to this behavioral-based question using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

"(Situation & Task) Just last month I had a client who needed to find 10 territory sales reps in 60 days. The job order was one of the largest that I had ever taken. The territories had been outlined clearly, which was great. I could call candidates and be very clear with them on the travel expectations and percentage of overnight travel. Partway through my search, the client came back and said they decided to hire just five people and double up on the territories. (Action) I had to call my twenty shortlisted candidates again and ask them if they were open to much more extensive travel than originally discussed. (Result) Luckily, most of them were open to the idea; however, I did lose three candidates due to the change. One thing that I have learned in the recruitment industry is to be flexible and expect change because situations like this come up often and I need to be ready to explore an alternate plan."
