Again, if you remain calm they will too. Also, I would make sure they know you are listening to everything they are saying and reassuring them that you are going to do everything in your power to fix the problem or situation.

This answer is a good start! I recommend removing the 'you' language and moving this to 'I' language. Also, a specific story-based example of 'a time when' you handled a challenging parent or individual at work would be a great way to elevate your response. I have provided an example below.
