      Manufacturing Engineer Example

"I have found in these situations it is best to just mediate. Generally, two arguing individuals are both seeking to have their viewpoint validated by the third party. Through proper mediation, you can de-escalate the argument without "choosing sides" and the conversation can be restarted at another time when emotions are at a lower level."

      Anonymous Answer

"It depends on what they are arguing about. If it's a personal matter I would give them privacy and address it later one on one. If it was work-related I would determine whether I had knowledge or expertise in the area to lend an insight one way or the other. If neither, assuming I knew both parties and would not be seen as intruding, I would assist in mediation. If I did not know both parties I could bring someone in who did and was neutral enough to help."
