On their website, HireVue explains that "Video-based assessments evaluate both what you know about performing the job ('hard skills' or competencies) and what recruiters call 'soft' competencies, like communication skills, conscientiousness, problem-solving skills, team orientation, and initiative. The competencies in your video assessment are based on research by organizational psychologists about the skills and characteristics that are most important for success in that particular job role. The best thing you can do is to carefully study the job description and be sure that you have examples and real experience behind you to "show what you know" about doing that job well."
So spend ample time exploring Sedgwick's website, and learn everything you can about their values, environment, and culture. Examine the value propositions they advertise on their career's site and identify in those the ideal talent they're aiming to recruit. "For those who care, we hear you. For those who go beyond what's expected, we respect you. For those who are driven to make a difference, we welcome you."

The example you offer of your proudest achievement will serve as a portrayal of you at your absolute best. It will offer insights into what success looks like to you, from your short-term goals to long-term goals, and the big picture. Be mindful of the verbal cues the assessment model may use to identify if you're exaggerating or not being completely honest. When your words don't align with your body language, your nonverbal signals will be seen as the truth. Some examples include repeating a question before answering it, speaking in sentence fragments, displaying a change in speech pattern, irregular speech, and rising and falling tone. So maintain eye contact and confident body language, be comfortable, and speak from the heart. Remain objective and confident, keeping your face and posture relaxed and your body language open and at ease.

Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect when participating in a HireVue online assessment: "All candidates applying to a position will receive the same set of questions, selected by the hiring company." Once your interview begins, you'll have 30 seconds to formulate your response to each question before it starts recording your answer. "Most on-demand interviews ask you to give your answer in just a few minutes. It's helpful to think about how you will illustrate your skills clearly in that timeframe, and to practice them out loud." Some questions will take longer to answer than others. Don't try to run out the clock or allow it to cut you off. Be as succinct as possible.
"HireVue takes measures to prevent candidates from seeing these interview questions before they are taking an interview. These measures ensure that each candidate has the same amount of time to review the questions, and prepare their responses, giving all candidates the same interview experience and an equal shot at putting their best foot forward."
Although HireVue takes measures to prevent candidates from seeing their interview questions before the interview, they offer practice questions on their website to prepare candidates for the process. "While virtual interviewing isn't difficult, a little practice can help you prepare." While the practice questions they offer may not apply directly to Sedgwick, they still serve as a useful exercise to familiarize yourself with this style of interview. So practice beforehand until you are comfortable with this process until you naturally come across as if you are speaking to a real person or to an audience. Once you have an understanding of this process, practice using this interview set. Set your timer for three minutes. Practice answering each question out loud while recording yourself delivering your answer. Watch your performance and study your responses for where there is room for improvement.

"I was helping a client with her claim. She then explained her entire extended family lost their houses and their cars in this massive weather event. All three households lived in close proximity to each other, and each household was a support for the other. So their support system was gone. She then explained that all three households were covered by our company, but that they were all intimidated by the process and too disparaged to take action. So, after getting the ball rolling for her, I called the others and I started the process of coordinating all of their claims, arranging for them to stay in the same hotel, to be shuttled to the same car rental agency at the same time, and to make the entire process as painless as possible. With the help of the others on my team, we were able to eliminate any bureaucracy and get them back on their feet in no time."
