Sedgwick highlights inclusion as such a priority, that they have included it as one of their core values. "Inclusion is about acceptance. Everyone matters. Everyone is included. Everyone belongs. Inclusion is embracing the one-of-a-kind. The things both seen and unseen that make each person unique. Differences make us stronger. Better ideas, more innovation, better solutions. More ways to help those in need. To be inclusive you celebrate uniqueness. You understand and appreciate your colleagues and clients. You create a place where everyone can thrive as their most authentic self. We embrace a culture of belonging that ensures people feel welcomed, valued, respected and heard. Inspire inclusion."
They also go on to elaborate on this on several other pages on their website. "Be your most authentic self, because, at Sedgwick, you can be. We celebrate all the things that make you one of a kind. We're made stronger by the diversity and we're also committed to workplace equity. As a Sedgwick colleague, you'll be treated fairly and will have equitable access to opportunities. We celebrate our differences because they enable us to serve a diverse customer base and make us who we are as a company, and we embrace the unique skills, experience and personality each individual brings to our organization."

Conveying cultural competence requires expressing curiosity, interest, and being open and receptive through verbal and nonverbal communication. The body language you want to convey is softly smiling with engaging eye contact, tilting your head as you speak while keeping your body language open and relaxed and leaning in. On the other hand, to avoid communicating negative bias, stay away from communicating any signs of discomfort and avoidance, such as increased blinking and avoiding eye contact with the camera, smiling less or not at all, leaning away, and increasing your personal distance from the subject.

HireVue advertises that they "actively work to prevent the introduction or propagation of bias against any group or individual" and "continue to advance our abilities to monitor, detect, and mitigate bias." Therefore, their assessment models are designed to monitor, detect, and mitigate bias, while focusing solely on company fit, experience, skills and competencies, not age, race, or gender. So whether you consider yourself worldly and culturally competent, or come from a diverse background yourself, the assessment model aims to evaluate the value you place upon diversity and your experience working in a DEI-positive environment, regardless of your background.

"I am a firm believer that when a workplace has individuals from every aspect of humanity working together, it is an ideal place to grow and collaborate. I consider myself very culturally competent, and I habitually listen and work to understand others, their background, cultural differences, and adeptly adapt to their style of communication. The more I learn about others, the more I learn about myself."
