No matter what role you are interviewing for at Procter and Gamble, your interviewer is looking to gain insight into your knowledge of the roles that marketing, advertising, and research play in the overall success of an individual product. Specifically, they'll want to see that you understand what your role will play in this for the organization.
"I have always been fascinated with the correlation between marketing strategies and product performance. This is why I studied marketing and communication in college. I have a bachelor's degree in marketing, plus additional training in advertising methods from my current employer. I have seen creative and strategic marketing campaigns take an underperforming product and make it a strong contender in as short as 90 days. I look forward to putting my knowledge in marketing and advertising toward a role with Procter and Gamble; it's obvious that P&G invests a great deal in cultivating brands that are household names in everything from baby and personal care to home and fabric care."
"Although I do not have formal training and education in advertising and marketing, I love to research new marketing techniques. I'm a strong writer, so I feel that I could put that skill to use in helping the organization communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences. On the consumer front, I also have a strong understanding of several social media algorithms, including how to have your posts seen by the right audience. When I think of Procter and Gamble, several of our advertising slogans and jingles come to mind. 'If it's gotta be clean, it's gotta be Tide' and 'Charmin Soft' would be recognized by most people across the country."

Talk to the interviewer about any experience you have in advertising and marketing, whether that be on-the-job training or formal education. Discuss how you have seen robust marketing strategies directly affect the performance of a product. As well, you can earn bonus points with your interviewer by talking about some of the successful advertising and marketing campaigns of Procter and Gamble that you are familiar with.

"I recently graduated from X University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. I took several courses that I feel will add value to Proctor & Gamble, including content, social media, SEO, and email marketing. I did several case studies and projects actually on Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, and Johnson and Johnson and the different marketing and advertising techniques they use. Though I don't have formal professional experience in advertising and marketing, I did also support my local animal shelter but helping them fundraise and running their social media page to help cats and dogs be adopted into the community."

I have some marketing and advertising knowledge. Being an administrative assistant for HR and an assistant manager in the past, I had to deal a lot with the marketing departments and develop strategies to convince employees to come work for us. On top of that, I have a lot of school experience doing market research with an A average.

Great answer! It definitely sounds like you have exposure to and experience with marketing, both academically and in the real world. Nice! What kind of strategies did you help develop and what were the results? What kind of market research did you do in school?

I have experience in all of it, thru university and self-initiated projects such as the "La Sante" product that we started and formed with the beginning of the pandemic, trying to be ahead of the curve and to anticipate the market needs. There were ideas and tries with medical equipment, although was successful with some, there were some backsteps in some forms, but that's all part of the business nature.
