What experience or knowledge do you have about consumer products and the heavy regulations by the FDA and other health organizations/associations on them?
If you have worked in the consumer product industry before, this is a great way to be able to share what you know regarding the industry and how that knowledge could transfer over into your role at Colgate-Palmolive. If you haven't worked in the industry before, this is a great opportunity to do some research on the industry to see what information you can learn. The interviewer is looking to see what you know, and it is fine if you have not worked in the indsutry. However, take your answer up one level by showing how diligent you were in researching it.
"I feel that strong regulations are essential for the protection of the consumer as well as for the distributor. I also know that each product in this industry undergoes strict QA and testing requirements to make sure they meet human consumption/usage regulations. I find it interesting and also challenging to make sure to uphold those strict regulations."
"I appreciate the regulations and the protection they provide for consumers. It is highly possible that without these strict regulations, the products would not be conducive to human consumption/usage. I also find it interesting that the packaging also has to be truthful as to what ingredients are in the products."
