From baby care, fabric care, and household products to a variety of grooming and personal care products, Procter and Gamble bring a wide variety of household product names to consumers throughout the world. Your interviewer is looking to hear that you would come to their organization armed with knowledge on how to ensure that every product meets the needs of the general consumer.
"Consumer satisfaction first comes from offering value. The product must meet the needs of the consumer in a way that the customer feels is worth, or even exceeds, the price they paid. Second, consumer satisfaction stems from outstanding customer service - when a consumer has a question, can he or she quickly get a response that's helpful? And third, would be anticipating consumer needs and being first to meet them in the marketplace - constantly testing products and learning as much as we can about our consumers' habits can help make sure we know what they need, sometimes even before they do."
"There are many ways to ensure consumer satisfaction; however, I feel that the top three ways are through top-notch customer service, investment in research and development and consistently providing a product that solves a specific need. P&G is a proven master at this - your products are trusted in millions of living rooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and bathrooms--and have been passed down from generation to generation."

Prior to your interview, put some research and thought into the ways that a company like Procter and Gamble can ensure the ultimate satisfaction to their consumers across their product line. Keep in mind that it is okay to speak in high-level terms with examples like research, innovation, and customer service. As well, don't hesitate to talk about the importance of a company's reputation today.

"My junior year, I actually took a course on customer satisfaction in the workplace. The first recommendation would be to see customer feedback to understand better what they feel is good about the product and what they feel could be improved. It's important to seek that feedback and take action once you have the results. Asking customers their thoughts on a product or service shows that you care and value their voice. Next, listening to the customer and being empathetic would be another way to promote customer satisfaction. Whether a customer is voicing a concern or complaint or offering positive feedback, it's important to actively listen, not interrupt, and to truly seek to understand their thoughts. Lastly, I would recommend being proactive versus reactive. This means you anticipate the customer's needs and communicate potential issues or updates before they reach out to you about them. If you have a new product that could be of value to a customer, reach out to them and educate them and offer the service before they see it elsewhere."

Consumer satisfaction is key to any business. I think that it can be ensured through great customer service, constant analysis of trends, markets, and demand to be able to provide a solution to the customer quickly, and finally, constant innovation which creates always more value to customers.
Marcie's Feedback
Excellent answer! You mention three great ways that P&G can help ensure customer satisfaction.

Definitely, the priority is that the product offers the needed solution to the problem, we need satisfaction from our consumers to receive positive feedback and that they feel they paid the worth or even exceeds the expectations. Then follows the customer service, the consumer must receive the needed help in a short time and be assisted with useful information. Also to be ahead of the curve, to anticipate the consumer needs and meet them in the market often before even themselves are aware of it.

Cindy's Feedback
Good. These are indeed important ways to meet consumer satisfaction. Are there any product-related needs you discuss to answer the question more specifically and demonstrate knowledge of the company's product and customer?
