As I've supported recruitment efforts throughout my career, I've noticed that hiring managers want to get a sense of how a candidate views their accomplishments on the job to get a better feel for they'll be able to help motivate them. In Northrop Grumman's pursuit of innovation and becoming the top defense contractor in the world, the team needs to get a feel for how you will be motivated to achieve more on the job.

"My greatest career accomplishment was being promoted in my current company faster than anyone in the organization's history. I received accolades from the VP of Sales in front of the entire company, which was an extraordinary moment. Exceeding expectations, being promoted, and being financially ahead of where I initially expected was exhilarating."

"One achievement I am proud of is graduating college as an honors student while working full time. This accomplishment showed me that I could dedicate myself to my career and reach the goals that I set for myself. It felt great to accomplish so much and earn recognition for my dedication."

"I would have to say it was being promoted to executive assistant two years ago with my current company. As I interviewed and was offered the promotion, my interviewing team told me that my hard work and willingness to go the extra mile in my work made me the standout candidate for a role that garnered a lot of interest. It was very gratifying to see my efforts pay off."

An achievement, of which I am proud of is the 2nd version of the software of which I have been the architect. There was a strong emphasis on features rather than architectural refactoring. But certain features were difficult to implement correctly without some foundational changes. It was difficult to focus on more extended periods. I had to convince other team members of the value of doing this. But my perseverance ultimately won. The result is the core of the new software platform.

Good answer! You do a good job of explaining your achievement and what was challenging about it. I reworded parts of your response to assist with clarity, but I recommend you reword the final sentence to make it more clear what the outcome of the project was. The interviewer would also appreciate hearing a few details about the software.

As this turned out to be a long and demanding project, it was challenging to maintain the enthusiasm of my team members over time. I had to convince them of the value of doing the work. But my perseverance ultimately paid off. The result is the core of the new software platform.
