In your opinion, what has been the biggest breakthrough in the aerospace and defense industry in the past decade?
As a recruiter, it is essential to see a candidate's excitement and passion for the job and the industry in which they will be working. Even if Northrop Grumman is confident in the skills you would bring to the job, they still need to be assured that you have a passion for the aerospace and defense industries, and this question allows them to begin to gauge that.
"There have been endless breakthroughs in our industry; however, I would say the one that excited me the most was The Starshade, created by Northrop Grumman. The fact that we could have a tool like this to search for Earth-like planets amazes me."
"The biggest recent breakthrough in our industry, in my opinion, has been all of the advanced mission systems; however, there are so many from which to choose! May I ask which was your favorite breakthrough as of late?"
If you work in the industry and have firsthand knowledge, you will know about some of the latest industry breakthroughs. Briefly discuss which one has caught your interest the most. But if you are coming from a different industry or are a new grad, successfully displaying your interest will require some research before your interview.
"As in many other industries, artificial intelligence has entered the aerospace industry. Before my interview with Northrop Grumman, I read about AI technology in the cockpit of planes and helicopters and how the technology is helping maneuverability in unmanned flight operations."
