If employed by Cleveland Clinic, you may be asked to work with a diverse age range of patients, from pediatrics and their families to older adults. Give the interviewer some insight into what age groups you've worked with in the past and in what setting (hospital, clinic, community, etc.). Be sure you've read the job description thoroughly and searched for keywords into what age groups you may be working within this role, so you can speak directly to that. Avoid speaking negatively about certain age groups and demonstrate your flexibility and willingness to work with various patient populations.

"I've worked with all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric patients. Through that experience, I learned that pediatrics are a more vulnerable patient group because they can't always properly communicate how they feel, the side effects they are experiencing, or the severity of their pain. Often, pediatric patients are reluctant to take medications, cooperate for blood draws or radiology tests, vaccines or injections, etc., so they require more patience and persuasion sometimes than working with the geriatric population. The elderly typically experience a much different range of health issues and diseases than peds, requiring a totally different level of care and treatment."

"Over the years, I have worked with all age groups, from pediatrics to the elderly. I enjoy working with patients of all ages, and I've found different techniques and strategies that seem to work better than others for each age group. For example, my younger patients tend to learn best by consuming content online and through apps, but my older patients like one-on-one training, literature to read, or hands-on educational methods. I'm comfortable with and am open to working with all patients in my next role."

Prioritize! I have often set alarms or alerts to help with time-sensitive tasks. If necessary, I have used resources available to me, such as my teammates.

Jaymie's Feedback
Prioritizing is important! If you can think of other techniques to use like distraction-free periods, check-ins with managers, etc. those will be beneficial as well.
