"Last month my supervisor asked me to take our existing sales training package and improve it. My goal was to make the system more engaging for recruits. Once we implemented my ideas, we increased our new trainee retention rate by 16%. I was quite proud of what my creativity could do!"

"There are so many great business practices out there that there is not always a need to reinvent the wheel. I took a "touch base" practice we used to get a pulse of the team and customized it for a field-based corporate sales group to build better relationships with them. It has been effective and fun!"

Software sales also included training the end-user which was my responsibility. However, sometimes we encountered issues dealing with hardware or installation delays that caused end-users to not be trained in a timely manner, and they would be understandably frustrated. I suggested that we have a select team of individuals that have been trained in all our business facets/operations, including sales, training, and installation. I was a member of this select mini-team, and this enhancement to our capabilities contributed to setting sales records for our company.

Great! This is an excellent example to cite. You made a smart suggestion that worked out well and benefited the company and its sales results. This shows that you are able to think outside of the box. Nice job!

One thing I loved about my last role was owning that process. One day when we were in our typical scheduling meeting, it was mentioned that we had an order that was rejected by the customer because we used the wrong filter size in manufacturing, yet it was the filter on their paperwork. It turned out that there was a disconnect in our system between the filter the sales team member could select on the website and the one we could use in the lab. At first, we tried converting the equipment to be able to use either filter size, but it turned out to be very inefficient in time and would cost the customer a lot more to use. When we really dug into the issue with the customer we found out that what they needed would be better accommodated by our larger GMP facility, so we took steps to move them over there and actually reduced their price in the process.

This is a good example to use. Try to use "I" where applicable instead of "we" so the interviewer understands your role in the solution and positive outcome.
