"Having worked in warehousing for over ten years, it is amazing to look back in that short time frame and see advancements that have been made in waste reduction. In my current role, I was part of a team effort that helped reduce our paper waste by eliminating printed packing slips and pick tickets for our staff. Simple and relatively inexpensive technology has greatly impacted these movements. In our field, I believe great efforts have been made to reduce labor waste as well. During my time, I've implemented a lot of manual processes for my staff that have increased production to their time that matters in filling orders. This greater amount of production has saved my organization hundreds of thousands of dollars."

"Working in the field as a Maintenance Technician currently, I make many efforts to help reduce waste to our environment. I have witnessed many techs simply throwing things away that could've been recycled and I make all efforts possible to recycle items properly. If I'm onsite at a clinic or hospital, I will ask at their loading dock if they have appropriate recycling. If they don't, I keep a recycling bin in my work van to bring back to our facility for disposal. I plan my days and weeks out to have all of the necessary tools and materials I need to prevent run backs that wasted fuel and time. In my mind, a little extra planning goes a long ways towards reducing waste."

"During my internship, I tried to find ways to reduce my footprint in the office as much as possible. I reduced paper use by buying a dry-erase notebook and refrained from printing emails unless absolutely necessary. I would bring a reusable water bottle to work and packed my lunch in a reusable bag. Lastly, when I left my workspace each day, I would unplug as many of my devices and power cords as possible to reduce my energy footprint as well."
